Rhone wine perfect for autumn beef stew

Life is a journey and invite you all the time to new experiences, if you just open your eyes. I spent a wonderful weekend by the fantastic Swedish south coast east of Ystad. Fun to enjoy Sweden's probably best beach, great food and delicious wines, but not the least being together with parts of the family. Thought, however, I would have to fix some repairs on the summer house, but as usual I had to play second violin despite the fact that maestro now is respectfully 87 years young smiley

Now its time to enjoy last days of summer, but its also time to start purchasing some exciting new red wines for this autumn's food challenges.

To my delight, I found a real quality bargain from the Rhone Valley producer Janasse. It should be an excellent red for autumn's first beef stew.

Domaine de la Janasse Terre d'Argile Côtes du Rhône Villages 2010 for 25 USD

The color of the wine is black-red and the smell is after a few hours in a decanter full of violets and juniper. The taste is perfect for autumn stew with delightful acidity and tannins that are complemented with hints of violets, licorice, raspberry, blueberry, toffee and fresh herbs as a finish. A wine you can still get hold of in many places and that has to be tested this fall. However, it will gain even more of 1-2 years of storage in the closet/cellar.

Life is now entering a more active phase again and you have to bring out your motivation for what drives you forward. And I know clearly where my motivation comes from...
