Merry Christmas from the wine blogg - Collepiano Sagrantino di Montefalco 2006 from Arnoldo Caprai for 27 EuroWine tipsPosted by Per-Olof Diderot Fri, December 23, 2011 20:02:26
The perfect Christmas gift!
First I would like to wish all the faithful, but also new readers Merry Christmas. It costs a lot of time and money to maintain a wine blog of this nature, but is easily motivated, when it is so fun to share good wine and Italian food tips to a growing number of readers all over the world...
To present this wine from us at wineblogg.com to all of you, I'll take help from my dear colleague and family member Padraig.
Now to the wine that comes from the province of Perugia (Umbria) in central Italy. The wine is made from the grape Sagrantino, which gives powerful wines normally with a lot of tannins and perfect for cellar storage.
The colour is purple and the scent filled with lovely hints of lavender, cherries and Christmas chocolate. The flavour is almost overwhelming complex with yummy aromas of cocoa, cherry, plum and fresh sage. Still, the wine is full with nice tannins that suggests large storage capacity, but can already now be enjoyed with great joy. A perfect gift for anyone who wants a great wine at an affordable price. The wine oracle Robert Parker's co-worker gave the wine 94/100 and my twin rating is for price worthiness 96/100 and the quality of 95 + / 100 and may be more in the long run.
